Our visitors voted 10 BEST music websites in the world.
MTV.com
Artists pages here give center stage to those star-making
MTV videos. Check out whats hot now or trawl through the
big hair and bad suits archive of past MTV three minute masterpieces.
In addition youll find some clips of big-name appearances
on shows like 120 minutes or Total Request Live. Plus, theres
all the charts and chats to check out. We enjoyed the show pages
with the teasers for favorites shows such as RealWorld, and
The Tom Green Show.

Rolling Stone
Youll find a lot more than just great interviews on this
site. While the signature sit down sessions with top stars are
a big draw the interactive version of Rolling Stone also offers
some things that print just cant do, such as MP3 downloads,
Rolling Stone radio, music videos, Webcasts, message boards
and enough cool games to distract you for hours. Sign up for
the Rolling Stone newsletter, subscribe to the magazine or check
out the CD reviews.

All Music Guide
AMG has taken a page out of Linnaeus book on how things
should be classified. When it comes to the kingdom of music
this site has it all covered. With essays, music maps and elaborate
cross-referencing, learn how the delta blues spawned Led Zeppelin,
how boogie woogie gave birth to skiffle, how bubblegum pop relates
to teen idols. Search by genre, name, label, era or by song.
We love almost everything about this extraordinarily well-designed
and really useful site.

CDNOW.com
Make yourself a custom CD on the internet and have it sent as
a gift. The service, Custom CD, is just one of CDNOWs
cool extras. Others include a wish list function, the points
system which lets you clock up credits towards free stuff each
time you buy stuff here and the CDNOW radio station. Plus you
can read breaking music news or browse the ample archive of
interviews with rock and roll and pop legends. We like the user-friendly
design and the multi-genre staff picks in the best albums of
the year section.

Emusic.com
Song and album downloads and lots of them. With a catalogue
of over 125,000 MP3s emusic has plenty of music to choose
from. Downloading the digital songs costs about $1. Complete
albums run you about $9. The site also offers an all-you-can-download
fixed monthly rate which could pay off if you have a quick
connection and a hearty appetite for MP3s. Nice extras include
biographies of the artists, top ten download lists, a newsletter
and even gift certificates.

Indie Music
The promise of the Internet realized. Indie Music is a saving
grace for independent musicians who need a shoulder to cry on,
schooling on how to press a CD, a list of record labels or just
a place to explore new music. Musicians looking for exposure
can post their photo, band description and a URL for free or
join the forum for some first hand advice. Band listings and
resources are organized by state. We loved the tour guide which
shows neophytes hitting the road the ropes of swapping gigs
and finding places to hole up for the night.

Tower Records
Tower online integrates nicely with their click and mortar business.
Online purchases can be returned in-store and gift certificates
purchased in the virtual world can be redeemed either online
or in the real world Pretty handy. We enjoyed the listening
station which has dozens of samples from the latest CD releases
and is accompanied by hi-lights from top magazine reviews. Tower
also sells used CDs and offers DVD, video and pay-per-song downloads
too.

Ultimate Band List
Comprehensive information on over 105,000 bands and artists.
Browse alphabetically, by genre or cut to the chase with a keyword
search. Results yield articles, links, news, chat, related bands
plus a discography. Check out the dozen or more hot debates
going on at any given time in the Community channel or download
pay and free tracks and videos by top artists and more obscure
names too. We loved the short but uncensored interview clips
with opinionated pop stars. Our other favorite thing was the
Bargain Bin with scads of great CDs for under $9.
